Earlier today me and Sky went for a bike ride. I was planning on going along the road to find a place a bit higher up of village A's stream (because it's a nice, rocky stream; good for photos).
Last time we drove along that road going to the shops, I spotted a place which I thought would be an accessible part of the stream - because closer to home it's in someone's private property and on public land there's not much visible which is accessible.
So me and Sky cycled up there, stopped next to a fallow field full of muddy clay and tramped across to find the stream.
The stream was there, but it was stupidly inacessible because some fathead had bought the land it was on. There was a stable and some enclosed fields or something - I saw a donkey - and since we didn't want to be caught trespassing, we headed back to our bikes o.e
But as we crossed over the clay again, my feet got stuck in the mud *sigh* I had to heave for ages before I could free my poor boots. I rinced them in a small brook in a ditch by the side of the field to get the sticky clay off.

We decided to head on a bit and have a look at village R before we went back. We were only wearing cardigans and my hands were freezing cold :P
So we cycled into R and then Sky said she was cold so we started heading back. But I suggested to her that we go down a small road (which we'd been down by car once or twice as a short cut) and see what it was like - we didn't really remember.
It was really nice and autumnal down there ^.^ It's funny, everyone else seems to be getting autumn in October or November, but we're just getting it now!
Before the entrance to the wood there were a couple o' vineyards on the right and left. So we wandered along the right hand side, and emerged into a deserted field. I think that would be great place to see deer and wild boar, if we came some time at the right time of day. And probably owls and such, too.
We went into the wood from the field, and found a small path which we wandered up. There were several fallen trees which looked like they'd been struck by lightning, about a year ago or so. Maybe even more recently. We guessed at when they'd fallen by what was growing underneath the branches and by the fact that they still had brown leaves on them.
After that fallen tree in the photo above the path split into two - one was still a small path like the one we had been on, and the other, on the left, was a wider path, more like a track, although still leaf-covered and it didn't look like it had been used for ages. We walked up it and came to the other side - well, top - of the wood...and emerged into a kind of grassy lawn with a lot of old buildings. Sky was scared (trespassing and stuff) and wanted to go back. I lost my common sense and thought we might have been trespassing (we weren't, of course, since there were no signs - and anyway, you can't do anything to a trespasser except ask them to leave; especially if there are no signs) so we only walked a few steps into this deserted place - for the buildings were big barns and there didn't seem to be anyone there. It was a bit spooky, really. There seemed to be a track between the two buildings closest to us and one or two further away, so we nipped up to check. But then Sky saw a land rover (with a horse trailer attached) and a campervan or something (I don't really remember) parked nearby, and gasped, so we headed back into the woods *sigh*
Just because there were some vehicles, it doesn't mean they were necessarily in use. None of the place looked in use. I want to go back there soon and have another look, but Sky doesn't want to go without our parents.
