So, we went to our granddad's place, thankfully after the snow had stopped and melted, which it did fairly quickly >.< it took a couple of hours to drive to his place, and we arrived when it was dark. We had some potato stuff for supper, and then went to bed. The next day we went to the shops once, and otherwise stayed at home. In the evening our uncle came over, and stayed the night. Then, the day after, me and Sky went for a walk in the woods while our granddad and uncle were sorting boxes or something. It was really nice, though rather cold and very windy. There were a few patches of snow on the ground, especially where there was less tree cover.
We branched off the path a bit, and found an old stone house, with three walls and a bit, no roof and no visible floor. There were loads of trees and brambles growing inside it! I wonder how old it was. There were several openings for windows, and two - at least - for a door.
Then we went back and had lunch. The wind was so strong, it was gusting between force 9 and 12 - and force 12 is hurricane! I could see the waves on the sea from his house...and the sea is just a small patch on the horizon.
Later, I went for another short walk by myself *sob* because Sky positively refused to come with me, the worm. I went up the hill we'd been up, there, before and took a few photos of the sunset, although unfortunately most of the colour (and the actual sun) was behind another hill.
Then I went back. We had supper, and then our granddad took our uncle back to his place. We went with them. The drive took about an hour, but I was glad we could go because I wanted to take some pictures of the moon and things. You can see some more photos here. I had to scramble right to the top of this mound, with the tripod and camera, to make sure there were no trees in the frame (although actually most of the time a few branches got in...). And, mind you, it's hard enough climbing up there in the daytime and without any tripod hindering your progress. Plus I had to perch on a small area not more than a foot big...just above that bending over branch in the photo below.
I spent half an hour up there, but due to the long shutter speeds and difficulty setting up in the semi-darkness, didn't take as many photos as I would have liked >.<
Then, yesterday, we had to come home. We stopped past the beach on the way to the train station, though. I would have liked to have a quick swim but we hadn't got time.
The cats were fine, and it's so nice to see them again <3 although Humbug did think our return was a cause to a) scratch and bite Sky's feet in bed and b) scratch the wall and c) chew the edge of the wardrobe and d) chew the edge of the shelf and e) kill a book of mine :P
That old house is interesting. I once found an old, burnt-down barn, but I didn't have the nerve to go look around in there. O.O
