On Saturday we went to our granddad's house for a joint celebration of his and our uncle's birthdays (1st and 7th Sept). Also our great uncle, his wife, their son, his wife, their two children (3yrs and 9mths) were there. We had a very nice time, and got back late (partly because we arrived late, partly because the silencer on our exhaust fell off just as we were leaving our house).
There'd been a storm on Friday, leaving us with no electricity. When we got back on Saturday night - or it may have been early on Sunday - we still had no power, but others in the village did, according to their lights. So on Sunday, yesterday, someone came over (finally, after not answering the phone for ages) and fixed it. Something had burnt out, I'm not sure what exactly :P
Aaaand today my sister and I went on what we've called a "tri-milfall" bike ride; viz going to each millfall in turn. We started with 3, went round to 2 and were unable to access 1 due to all the water. As were were coming back from millfall 2, I spotted a brightly coloured caterpillar. My sister suddenly said, "Look, two more!" - and a few moments later we'd found quite a lot of them, lol.
I looked them up when I got back and they're spurge hawk moth caterpillars.
