First of all, the dentist said that maybe maybe I could have my braces off in January. Apparently I kept the "permanent" elastic on too long (the one which goes around each tooth), so a few of my teeth have become wonky again. But as he's taken the elastic off, they should go back into place. If they haven't by January, I guess I'll get 'em off in Feb. But luckily I don't have to wear the normal elastics anymore! ^.^ And my sister only has to wear them at night.
We visited the school on Friday 18th to register for next term, which we did successfully. Oh I can't wait!!

I've had several chameleons since we got back home. A male Jackson's (Ezekiel), a male high-casqued (Zerubabbel) and another male J's (Moses). I released Ez, and the other two escaped.

Now I have two high-casqued, which I spotted on the fence yesterday as we drove back from the shops. One's definitely a male (Enoch) and the other I had at first thought was a female (Kerren-happuch) but now I think may actually be a male so I'll have to change its name.
Here's a photo of Sandy, and one of Toffee.

Now, I just checked and apparently I didn't mention two things.
Firstly that a dog pneumonia virus was going around while we were in Europe, and Toffee caught it but our neighbour very kindly took her to the vet each day for two weeks, and luckily she recovered. Both dogs were spayed, however. We'd planned on spaying Sandy but Mum had wanted Toffee to have one more litter, so she's not too pleased about that. But if she'd been pregnant while she was ill then both she and any puppies could have died.
The second thing is that the neigbour we gave two puppies to (Jasper and one of Toffee's) gave them or sold them to somebody else and then took two more for himself. So technically he stole two puppies. I was very angry at the time because the whole thing was that we'd given him Jasper so we could visit him etc. However, now it seems that my poor puppy has had a very lucky escape!! (Assuming, of course, that whoever he was given to looked after him properly, as we don't actually know how or where he is...yet.)
Apparently the neighbour (I'll call him M) looked after the two puppies he kept for himself extraordinarily badly. He kept them shut in the kennels all day in the baking sun. The neighbour who took Toffee to the vet (call her T) checked with him that he'd taken the puppies to the vet and had them vaccinated etc, and he'd said he had.
To cut a long story short - he hadn't. One puppy died of pneumonia (and a combination of being kept enclosed in a space one metre by one metre maximum in the sun) and the other one was taken to the vet by T after she hadn't seen it for several days, but by that time it was too far gone and they put it down.

In January I think there's going to be a meeting of the people in the compound with the landlord, and they'll discuss stuff about getting a new gateman and just some various things that need to be discussed, so hopefully we'll find out where Jasper went then, so at least we can know how and where he is...

  1. That's so awful! I can't understand how people can do that to an innocent creature and be in peace with themselves :(
