Holidays...
If we have to have holidays forced upon us, they could at least make them homework free, don't you think?
I have homework in three different subjects - Spanish, English and French.
For Spanish I have to read a poem and answer questions on it. Fairly easy.
For English I have to finish filling out a paper on a song...a paper which, alas, I seem to have lost. I also have to do a presentation on a song or film of my choice, from the 1960s, and describe how it is "representative of that decade". What a flipping waste of time.
For French I have to read a book of short poems by Verlaine, whose biography is at the beginning of the book and is rather depressing. He loves his cousin, but she dies. He drowns his sorrows in alcohol. Then Verlaine meets another girl (who's sixteen), and marries her. Then he meets a seventeen year old poet, who he falls in love with. He divorces his wife. Verlaine then has an argument with his poet, and shoots at him and injures him in the wrist. He's sent to prison for two years. Then when he comes out he falls in love with one of his pupils, who dies of typhoid. Verlaine goes back to alcohol and then dies.
I also have to finish writing a philosophical story ("which makes you think"), which technically I should have finished before the holidays. Doesn't sound that hard. Am I looking too far for an idea? I can't think of anything that would make you think... Are the rest of my classmates all more intelligent than me? Or have they written worse stories?

Anyway. Let me just summarise what else is going on / will be happening before I go and have lunch.
I've had a fever / cold since Sunday.
Chameleon cage should be finished this week.
Going to (probably) visit some friends of my parents at the weekend.
Returning to school on the 7th March.
My birthday is on the 9th...and I'll be 17. Ancient.

I'm planning on going to university, studying geography and then ecology, and doing a PhD in chameleons. So I'd like my job to involve animals, and also photography :3

  4. If you'd like some inspiration on philosphy, I recommend Walden by Henry David Thoreau; a book about Thoreau himself when he settles at Walden pond in the woods.
