Goodness, I can't believe we were in Kenya only last night!
We had a dreadful last few hours of desperate packing (as usual) and Dad had to leave ahead of us with the non-hand-luggage-suitcases to make sure we caught the plane and they were checked in. He made us promise to leave not more than fifteen minutes later than him, but it ended up being over half an hour later that we finally locked up, said goodbye to the dogs, and left.
Our taxi driver drove between 20 and 30 mph on the normal roads and 50 mph on the fast highway, which caused a lot of anxiety considering how late we already were.

Thankfully, we haven't yet broken our clean record of never missing a plane!
I watched two films and tried to go to sleep, but for some reason, as I generally sleep very well on planes and in cars etc, I slept dreadfully and tossed and turned (as much as was possible!) and came out of my half-sleep aching all over.

The sunrise was very pretty, though. The best one I've seen from a plane, certainly. Normally we either have too many clouds or none at all. Now we had some beautiful pink and purple light. It was stunning.

After faffing around in Heathrow for ages we got a taxi to my grandmother's place.
It's extremely bizarre being back in England. It's grey and fairly cold. There are lots of pretty blossoms out, but neither of the herons are here and the only wild mammal I've seen was a rat.
