Zo it vill be green wizzout much furzer deelay. (Vhich might be quite a bit of deelay seence I eez travelleeing, az you know.)

Eek, it's tiring putting all thoze Zs everywhere... *sigh*
Anyway! We left our aunt's house, spent the night in the place where we were storing some of our stuff (luckily we were storing a couple of mattresses too) and set off at about midnight two days late to go to the old-barn-thing I mentioned in the last post.
I fell asleep pretty quickly, in the car, and woke up to find we'd stopped. My first thought was that we'd arrived, and I was disappointed because I'd liked to have seen more of the journey, rather than sleeping the whole way. My second thought was that no, we hadn't arrived - and I was still disappointed.
Apparently we'd stopped so my lunatic parents could have a rest.
We continued on after about twenty minutes. It was very foggy in parts, so you couldn't see more than two metres ahead of the car. It was alright on the main roads, but when we went off onto small country lanes, there wasn't a white line in the middle to guide you - Mum made Dad go very slowly and put the blinkers on.

We finally arrived at five in the morning, just as it was getting slightly light. But we were forced to go to bed, and then slept until one or sometime around then.
On the first day we went for a walk (as usual). We hadn't been there for a while, and the last times we'd been we'd been too young to go for a proper walk and explore. So we did that this time :P
We walked around in the woods, which were pretty scenic and half-ran, half-slid down several slopes. It's in the hills, so there are lots of slopes. Anyway, we discovered a stream at the bottom of all the slopes and wandered along next to it for a bit.
To cut a long story short, we got a bit lost but managed to get back before our two-hour time limit was up.

Then there's this large concrete tank-thing which a small stream of water runs into. Sometimes the tank has tadpoles, salamander-poles and newt-poles in it. This time it was full of tadpoles, some of which had cute little legs :3

We were there for three days, I think, and then we went to our uncle's place - where we are now. We're staying in our uncle's girlfriend's place while she's away. On Sunday we're going to a B&B for one night, then we're going to our granddads, then back to the barn-thing and then to England.
(Sky just said she thinks I reveal a heck of a lot too much on here...meh. Tant pis pour elle.)
Yesterday we went to a nearby village and wandered around. We were there from early afternoon until about eleven - we had a tasty pancake for supper. When it had just got dark, I was walking down one of the lanes (come to think of it, I can't remember why) when this bird started hovering above my head, and then landed clumsily on a closed-shop's blind-shutter thing.
I thought "ooh, cute" and wondered if it would let me touch it, as it was just sitting there. It did, and I discovered it was a fledgling.
Now, before people start going all know-it-all and saying "eehhh you should have left it there" blablabla: it was in a street with cars going up and down, there were cats and dogs and people (some a lot more irresponsible than moi) all over the place and it could hardly fly. We assume the nest was in one of the gutters - which were way too high up for it to fly back to, if it knew the way.
I know the parents look after the fledgling when it's on the ground, but it seriously wasn't safe there. We considered leaving it, but it didn't seem right.
So it's temporarily ours ^.^ thing is, we don't know what kind the blasted bird is so we're not too sure what to feed it, yet. We're going to the supermarket later to buy some maggots.

  1. I rescued a robin fledgling from a street. It was just sitting there, in the street, and couldn't fly. I assumed it just left the nest. There was also 4 huge crows pecking at it and trying to eat it. Poor thing. I put it underneath it's nest, because I couldn't reach it. And the thing where people say the mother will not take care of it if you touch it, that is just a myth.

Those woods look exactly like the woods my dad lives in. I also take walks through the woods. Me and my dad found a pond with a whole bunch of turtles. And in our grass lot there are a whole bunch of baby toads hopping around ^^
