Mmm,
another "sorry for not posting sooner". I did have the chance, I
just...I don't know. Anyway, there was a nice sunrise on the morning we left.
The plane
journey was uneventful and me and Sky spent pretty much the whole time watching
films. We arrived and spent ages in the airport because you have to fill out
these rubbish forms which for some reason always take a lot longer with us than
anyone else. Then we went to a guesthouse where we spent the night, and I found
a baby chameleon :3 well, fairly young, anyway. Sky named her Andromeda.
In the
morning Dad had a migraine so we spent longer than we would have done otherwise,
and I found another chameleon - an adult male, called Hermes. Dad got better
later and we went to the house we rent. I let Andromeda go before we went,
though, because she wasn't eating and anyway it was rather hard finding small
enough stuff for her to eat. We took Hermes with us.
My system
for keeping chameleons is that they sleep in a box, inside, with branches and
leaves and things at night, and otherwise they’re mainly in a small bush on the
left of the veranda, and I catch them food and keep an eye on them. But in the
morning I was reading a book and forgot about him for a bit and when I went to
check on him he was gone *sigh* Luckily I found a new chameleon later on, a
high-casqued female we named Athena. But then she vanished a few days
later while I was doing a strenuous bout of washing up.
So I was chameleon-less until yesterday when we went back to
the guest house for Mum to meet up with a potter or something so she could
order some mugs or something. Then I found a new chameleon, which we named
Kleo. I think she may have been gravid ^.^ but yes, the “may have been” means
that she vanished, earlier today... >.< I did see her again, but she’d
climbed up this creeper which grows on the veranda, and I couldn't reach her by then. Mum was being really mean and didn't let me climb on the roof to have a look for her, later, after I'd lost her from sight. She said that maybe I could when Dad came back (he's gone to Nigera until Sunday). I don't see what difference it makes whether he's here or not. Well, maybe I'll find her tomorrow...

The chameleons are cute :3
ReplyDeleteSince we don't have chameleons (I love carpet and flap-necked, carpet referring to the chameleon, the flat fluffy object you put on the floor), I catch water snakes. :P
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of the male Jacksons, you can see every detail of his scaly skin.
I love jeweled chameleons <3 I wish I could have a snake, but Mum isn't super keen on them and besides we'd need to get one which wouldn't need to eat mice or something. I mean, I know they eat them in the wild, but...mice are something you'd have as pets as well... >.< I kept some grass snakes for a while, when we stayed in a gite once, there was a stream which was absolutely full of them! I'd really like to go back there.
DeleteAnd thanks ^.^
