A week's holiday at my grandfather's and uncle's, with my cousins-once-removed, going to the beach and also camping, which were lots of fun. Then back here in time for my results yesterday...and guess what! To my utter astonishment I got a mention très bien (highest honours), with an average of 17/20! And there I was, worrying that I wouldn't have the 13/20 I need to apply to university, or even that I might completely fail. But honestly, I couldn't believe my eyes... I thought my lowest mark would be history-geography, around eight or possibly lower, but I got sixteen! My actual lowest was French lit, where I got 13, which is pretty decent, considering I thought I'd get 9 or 10. I'm so happy :)

  1. Wow, Congratulations! I finished my first year of Bachillerato here in Spain in June, and I've got an average of 9.77/10, which is gonna be kinda hard to keep up next year XD
I have no idea of what I want to study or where. What are you planning on studying?

    1. Wow, that's amazing!! Good luck with next year, then ;) but don't you have any idea what you'd like to study, what job you want to get?
I'm hoping to study zoology in England, starting in September 2019 as I'm taking a gap year - partly so I can do an A-level in biology. So more exams for me next summer! *sigh*

    2. That sounds awesome. I have no idea what I'd like to do. I like philosophy but I don't want to be a teacher and I can't think of many more uses for that so far. I do know that I want to be a writer, even if that's not my actual job. I'm more than halfway through my first novel. Are you still writing? And what about your sister?

    3. Sorry I never replied! Been very busy and rather forgot about blogging haha.
I love philosophy as well, but I must admit that teaching is the only way I can think of for earning money with philosophy. Except for writing of course, but you'd probably need to do both.
My sister still writes, yes, but I've not really had the time, or the inspiration. Although I do know a proper writer would find ways to inspire themselves! I'd like to get back into writing, but I was never happy with what I wrote, and spent most of my time going through and revising it. I guess if I can find what my style is, and be happy with it, then that'd be possible.
That's great that you're writing a novel! What is it about?

    4. Haha, I've been pretty busy with school too, because it's a nightmare xD. Still, this year I started studying Ancient Greek so that's awesome.
I have trouble with inspiration and time management too– sometimes I think about my novel all day and write whole chapters on scraps of paper in class, and then I leave it untouched for a month xd. I'm still not happy with my style/ what I write (lately I've kind of become a perfectionist about everything) but I guess the only way to get through that is to just keep writing until something decently satisfying comes out, even if it's just a few sentences.
It's pretty simple, it just follows the life of a teenage boy for a couple of months while he figures stuff out, contemplates the world, and torments himself thinking about the meaning of things, existence, and the challenges in everyday life xd. Some parts of it are loosely based on my life experiences so far, or just interesting stuff that's happened to me and I think is worth mentioning.
