So yesterday my sister and I went for two walks - first of all just wandering around a few streets and taking photos of the flowers which are growing on the walls and things. There are so many beautiful roses and fushias, it's stunning!

Then we went for a walk to the pond, and saw all the ducks again. There are actually five ducklings, not four - but the fifth spends a lot of time darting around and hiding, so it's easy to miss! Then we had lunch and there was some Doctor Who on TV (third Doctor), so me and Sky watched that. It was with Sarah-Jane Smith as companion, and it's cool seeing her when she was a lot younger. She sounded and looked very similar to as she did when - eek, how tense is confusing, especially with dead people. As she did when she was older.
Then we went to see our great uncle and aunt (Dad's A and U), as well as the aunt's brother and his wife. We had chocolate cake and some really nice banana bread.
It's so weird how it's still light, even at 9 p.m.! It's really confusing, because most of the time I think it's later than it is (Kenya is two hours ahead of England, during the summer - three during the winter) but then, after about 6 p.m., I start thinking it's earlier than it is, because in Kenya the sun sets at 6. Very confusing.

Today we went to the pond again, and there are lots of wild cherries which are really tasty, but unfortunately I think we've eaten all the ones which are in reach. We tried pulling a branch down with a stick but it doesn't work >.< I would have climbed the tree, but it's so impractical with my camera. It's also nice seeing all these different dogs again. In Kenya you mostly only see street dogs, which are all the same shape with very little variation in colour. Here there are so many! And we've seen dogs called Toffee and Olive :P also one called Treacle *sigh*

Just now I was watching a program on TV, called Animal Hoarding. I don't like that program. I only watch it because a) it's about animals and b) so I can see how stupid it is. It's about people in America, who "hoard" animals. The family get's upset and calls in a therapist of some sort, and blablabla.
First of all, it's not proper hoarding, in the animal-hoarding sense of the word. In that case you're keeping the animals with you, even if they're ill or injured or unhappy, simply because you want them. Of course sometimes the person seriously thinks they're better off with them, but others have a paranoid idea that they'll be killed or whatever if they relinquish them.
In the cases on TV, the poor people are just trying to live their own lives, peacefully with their animals. After all, it's their life, isn't it!! Sometimes, yes, their house is a flipping mess, and in which case their friends and family should help them out, financially etc. Maybe they should get a few less animals, and make sure the ones they give away go to good homes. They could spay their animals, etc. (There was one wonderful thing where a vet offered to donate neutering for 60 or so cats! I wish he could visit our neighbours.) Anyway, then this stupid therapist comes in and says "you need to live your life" "you need to have relationships with people" "these cats [or whatever] are keeping you away from other people", and so on and so forth. It makes me sick. The person says they don't want to be with people, which is why they have the animals. Good grief, how hard is that to understand!! And these poor people who are "hoarding" have their animals in great condition, with no illnesses! They should look at our neighbours who's cats are overrun with cat flu and stress which is making them lose their fur! Why don't they do something worthwhile!
In the most recent episode, there was a woman who had 30+ cats and the brats somehow persuaded her into giving them away to a humane society. The stupid thick-headed brainless therapist said she should give them all away, and when she had "recovered", she could have a few cats again. So she gave them all to this society - even her favourite. I just can't believe how they could make her give away that cat. It made me cry. Oh, gosh, the imbeciles. It's just so - ugh. I can't express myself. But - oh, gosh!!!!!
I daresay there might be some proper episodes, with people with real problems, but...I just don't understand how the family of these so-called "hoarders" can call in a therapist. Just...wow.
And the "humane" societies! Fine if they're ones which don't euthanise their animals, but sometimes they just go ahead and give them over even if they do! There was one person who said that the family had to come before the man's chickens. Sure, I can see her point. But her father then said that the roosters would get killed if they were taken. And the daughter said that didn't matter, the family was more important! More important than the chickens' lives.
